...here are a few choice shots from the massive storm we had last night here in Phoenix. I have another roll of 120 B&W that i finished off as well but i have yet to get it developed. In hind sight i really should have brought my digital camera with me as well but the more i think about it the more time it would have taken away from me actually working with the Holga...and thus i might not have gotten these beauties (which mean more to me than 100 cool digital shots of lightning)...enjoy.

...man it feels good to get out and shoot!

...i shot this roll of Fugi slide film fully intending to have it crossed processed but when i was dropping it off they said it would be another 10 dollars to do it!!! I had to decline i thought that was outrageous. I love the shop i got to for my film to get developed 3 dollars a roll and one day turn arounds on color or black&white....but 10 dollars????

I've always had problems trying to scan in B&W negatives but tonight i figured out a way to do it without scanning them!!! Try shooting them on a lightbox with your digital camera and then inverting them in photoshop...works like a charm!

..i also pioneered a new way of presenting the images!! I'm calling it "Spiraling"...Let me know what you think.

I got a chance to visit the Phoenix Art Museum today that had a really great exhibit featuring Ansel Adams. It had a lot of great prints and actual negatives on display, This is one that i shot with my digital camera before security told me that i couldn't....really inspiring....and it is free on Wednesdays.

Here are the results on my first Macro Lensed Apple Shoot. All is roses, though i think they would be better served on Medium Format film. I like these enough though...might spark a fruit series from me.
As you can see there is a little leeway in the focal point which is good to know that you have a little area to play around with....only in my third shot on the shot below does it start to go out of focus.
...and here are two where i experimented with my wide angle lens.

I still misjudged the number of clicks, but on the bright side i figured out what i was doing wrong in my click counting...the space i counted for the gap was going to be doubled which i didn't realize was happening...so now my third attempt should be spot on.

Behold! A roll of B&W!! Some decent stuff on it for sure. My scanner was doing a way better job than normal recognizing them as black & white negatives for some reason..hope it keeps it up.
I was trying to experiment with some multiple exposed portraits...and just now starting to get a feel for the actual distance on the shot from what you see in the view finder at the time you took it. I know now to not be shy about filling up the area because the HOLGA tends to go smaller than they actually appear. For example look at these two shots were in both of them my second smaller exposure is a quite smaller than i intended...still makes for a cool shot though...and i finally got to use my manikin head!

This one is a self portrait that I took testing out an accessory that i bought for my HOLGA which is a remote trigger which works beautifully.

I finally got a few rolls developed and my shot of Superman has to be seen to be believed!!! I totally choked...having only 2 shots left on my roll of 120 color...should have waited til he got closer...shot this one from the hip.

This guy was amazing...remembering back to an interview with Grant Morrison where he talked about his inspiration for his All Star Superman run....I really think that this is the same guy.

I was trying to fine tune things on my scanner...specifically when scanning in black & white negatives and i think i got it all figured out. Here is one more from the Medium Format roll...there are some interesting light leaks on this shot...which i like a lot...makes me wish i was shooting with color.

Here are a few shot from an experiment i tried with my HOLGA where i covered the backing but for a slip in the center...the plan was to have them all together but i counted out too many clicks and the spacing on them are too far apart for me to like how they turned out...ohh well might try it again sometime...i pulled this one closer together in photoshop to give you an idea what i had in mind.

...ok, i am getting the hang of the scanner and it it everything i ever dreamed it would be. i got more than a few done tonight. I think i am at a good stopping point and will finish up any others that i want to get in. I am going to start on my medium format next just to fine tune them myself.

This HOLGA camera has taken my photography to an entirely new level...I am thinking in terms of collages now when i shoot. I haven't shot with my digital in almost a month.
